		<description>Two emails from people who don&#039;t like cabbage or carrots asking about omitting them. DON&#039;T! You won&#039;t taste the cabbage or carrots. They simmer so long that they lose their individual flavors. They are needed in the soup to &#039;sweeten&#039; it up a bit and counter the starchiness of the brown rice. Use BROWN rice instead of white so that your soup thickens naturally. You won&#039;t be sorry. I just finished the pot today and it&#039;s even better than the first serving. (Most soups and stews are though.)</description>
